I Can't Function Without This

I travel overnight for a wedding, and before we pull out of the driveway, I must check to see if I've packed my thyroid medication.

I can't function without it. I go crazy without it.  Every system shuts down without it.

As I'm burying my head in my suitcase to find the medication, I suddenly realize that I'm as desperate for God's word in my life as I am this little medication.

Even one day without it, and I can't function.  I go crazy.  Every system shuts down.  Living with flair means I see the Bible as essential, daily medication.

I absolutely agree about the Bible being essential in my every day! It took me a while to see the truth in that though. When life seems off kilter for me...I look at my past few days to see what was different and imagine my surprise when I realize that my Bible hasn't been opened. Great post! Blessings!

Yes, I totally agree, Heather. My mornings begin with reading my Bible and spending time in prayer. I only wish I had gone from sporadic to consistent much earlier in my life. I initially did it out of duty, only to have God turn it into pure joy. This practice has been life changing for me, and I'm so grateful it has become essential; I don't want to miss it! Truly, in God's presence is "fullness of joy." (Psalm 16:11) Thanks for the great analogy!
